Congrats to the design team at Architectural Resources PC and Buffalo Engineering, P.C. for winning the AIA Buffalo/WNY Design Award for the Hilary House Recovery Center at Horizon Health Services campus in Sanborn, NY.
This project was a labor of love for everyone involved, not least of which, the family of Hilary Grace White who tragically lost her life due to opioid addiction. We hope this 'contemporary lodge' will fulfill its promise to help others suffering from this disease by establishing a judgment free facility that offers hope and support during their treatment journey.
Congrats to the design team at LaBella Associates and Buffalo Engineering, P.C. for winning the Buffalo Architecture Foundation's Community Award for the addition to Buffalo North Park Community School (BPS 66).
This project was a long time coming and has created an enviable space for early childhood education. Keep up the good work!

Congratulations to FeedMore WNY on the ground breaking of their new forever home in Hamburg, NY and to the design team at Trautman Associates, owner's representative Buffalo Construction Consultants, Inc., and general contractor Uniland Development Company on this momentus occasion.
The community’s need for nutritional food assistance continues to grow. The need has significantly outgrown FeedMore WNY’s current operations and services capability. To accommodate this need, FeedMore is expanding their operation through a new regional headquarters facility located in Hamburg, NY.
Trautman Associates team of Architects, Engineers and specialty consultants has worked closely with FeedMore WNY to provide architectural, programming, interior design, and full mechanical/electrical/plumbing/fire protection as well as commercial kitchen and warehouse planning design services for this new build facility. Tredo Engineers provided structural engineering for the foundations and slabs on grade while EDR provided site/civil engineering. When construction wraps up in late 2026, the site will combine the functions provided by FeedMore’s two existing facilities into one efficient and future expandable facility .

The Associated General Contractors of New York State Jeffrey J. Zogg Build New York Awards emphasize the construction team, not only the general contractor or construction manager, but also many others – the owner, architect, engineer, subcontractors, suppliers, and craftspeople – who contribute to the success of a project.
Since its inception, the Build New York Award winners have symbolized the best of construction projects in the state. Winning projects have included buildings and bridges large and small, new and renovations, public and private. Some projects are beautiful, others ordinary to the eye. But they all have one thing in common – they presented challenges that were met successfully by the winning company and the project team.
Each winner is presented with a trophy made of Lake Placid blue granite, set on a sleek black pedestal, in recognition of the company’s efforts. The award is meant to symbolize substance, quality, and dependability, just as a piece of New York granite does. With the program now open to all types of construction, the winners of the Build New York Award will truly be able to claim that their projects are New York’s best!

ICF Builder Magazine hosted their annual ICF awards in Las Vegas this year. Canterbury Woods Performing Arts Center was the 2nd Runner Up for the Heavy Commercial Division but won the People's Choice Award thanks to online voting!
The building was completed in June 2023 using a total of 15,000 square feet of ICFs for the exterior walls. The project used five different radii and no right angles. According to the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association, this 13,000-square-foot, 250-seat building was the largest ICF structure ever built with primarily radius walls in New York State.Total construction time was 12 months, and installation time took about 25 weeks. The team estimates that they saved 60 days by building with ICFs.
Matt (along with Raf Godlewski of Architectural Resources and John Rupp of Lehigh Construction Group) was invited to participate in the Concrete Credentials podcast hosted by the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association this month! Concrete Credentials, hosted by NRMCA Chief Communications Officer Gregg Lewis, AIA, LEED AP, covers all things concrete. From design to development, to construction, Gregg welcomes guests to discuss the many benefits of using concrete in building projects. Whether it’s concrete’s strength, durability, resilience, aesthetic quality, unrivaled sustainability and performance benefits, ease of use or cost-effectiveness, the pros agree: Concrete is the material of choice for buildings, paving and infrastructure.
On Season 4 Episode 5 of Concrete Credentials, we were asked to discuss our experience using Insulated Concrete Formwork for the Canterbury Woods Performing Arts Center. This unique project defies traditional concrete design elements, omitting straight walls or any conventional corners.
Congrats to the design team at Architectural Resources and The Liro Group, as well as the General Contractor, Lehigh Construction Group, for this well deserved recognition!
Canterbury Woods unveiled its $7 million Performing Arts Center this week at its main Amherst campus, introducing a uniquely designed entertainment venue that will not only serve its 400 residents but be open to the general public for ticketed concerts, shows and other events.
