Draftsperson (level 2)

Individual with some specialized technology relating to drafting, architecture or engineering such as Associates Degree, or experience as entry level draftsperson in a professional office, with limited or no experience, and a high school diploma.  Works under close supervision and receives technical guidance on the adoption of office standard and practices in the routine development of contract documents.

Skills needed (must haves):

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD2020 or higher
  • Revit knowledge a plus, but not required

Skills desired:

  • Knowledge of Structural materials (e.g. Steel, Concrete, etc)
  • Familiarity with construction techniques and methods
  • Good Communication skills
  • Committed work ethic and desire to make drafting a career, not just a job

Availability:

Position is available immediately, but we can be flexible, if desired.  This position is full time and long term.  We have a current senior staff member retiring soon.  Under his tutelage, the successful applicant would hopefully grow into his position permanently.  Our current staff member has been with us for 25 years and we’d love to be able to the same of you some day. 

 

 

STRUCTURAL ENGINEER (E3/4)

A fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional area of the assignments. 

Requires a minimum of four-plus years of related experience.

Skills needed (must haves):

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate with eligibility/intent to take licensing exam within 12 months.
  • Can evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications.  Assignments will have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables.
  • Will receive instructions on specific assignment objectives, complex features, and possible solutions.  Assistance is furnished on unusual problems and is reviewed for application of sound professional judgment. 
  • Can perform work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with relatively few complex features for which there are precedents.
  • May be assisted by engineers or technicians.
  • May be responsible for phases of a single revenue-producing project.
  • Will plan and conduct work requiring independent judgment in the evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Can devise new approaches to problems encountered.
  • Can independently perform most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.  Will receive technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.  May be responsible for phases of revenue producing projects

Skills desired (preferred):

  • Master’s degree in Civil/Structrual Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State, or ability to acquire by Comity
  • Can apply sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.  Can make decisions independently on engineering problems and methods.  Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of his field.
  • Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.  Consults with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments.
  • Typical duties and responsibilities may include but not be limited to following:
  1. Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of a small staff of engineers and technicians.
  2. Carries out complex or model assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. 
  3. As project manager, may be responsible for multiple projects including design development, production of contract documents, and meeting established project goals and schedules.
  4. May be asked to prepare fee proposals for new work based on related experience.

Availability:

Position can be available immediately, however we are interested in finding the right person, not just a person.  We do not have a deadline for hiring.   We are strategic when it comes to building our team; we do not hire and fire based on work load.  Our youngest employee has been with us since 2018, our oldest since 1989.  We are looking for a long term hire with stability in the Western New York market who is seeking the same.

 

CIVIL/SITE ENGINEER (e4)

A fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional area of the assignments.  Requires a minimum of four-plus years of related experience.

Skills needed (must haves):

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York State, or ability to acquire by Comity
  • HydroCAD, AutoCAD2020 or higher
  • Proficient with NYS DEC Stormwater Management Design
  • Applies sound and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.  Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods.  Requires the use of advanced techniques and the modifications and extension of theories, precepts, and practices of his field.
  • Supervision and guidance relate largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters.  Consults with supervisor concerning unusual problems and developments.
  • Typical duties and responsibilities may include but not be limited to following:
  1. Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of a small staff of engineers and technicians.

Position can be available immediately, however we are interested in finding the right person, not just a person.  We do not have a deadline for hiring.   Tredo Engineers has regularly provided Civil/Site Engineering services since 1994, but our services have are historically limited to site design around a building project (e.g. site planning, stormwater management, basic utility services, etc). 

We seek an individual who can expand our service offerings to include septic design, sewer treatment systems, municipal sewer and water projects, residential subdivisions, and possibly even grow into a consulting Town Engineer for small municipalities. We are looking for a long term hire with stability in the Western New York market who is seeking the same.
