Structural design of a two story, 22,800 square foot addition to an existing 21,300 square foot one story building with a basement. A story high steel truss constructed to resemble the “Tree of Life” supports the roof of the addition. Now the seat of government for the Seneca Nation of Indians on the Cattaraugus Territories, this 50,000 square foot project includes the Seneca Nation’s executive offices, planning offices, clerk/treasurer, police, public works and Council chambers, as well as many Social Services offices. The building’s design features many “green” principals, and includes the use of indigenous plants and imagery exhibiting respect for Native American culture.
